Selfie Ring Light Tutorial #5: Back Cover

Step 7: Battery Holder/Switch Joints

The Layout sketch has been completed, but the locations of the Battery Holder and Switch components aren’t quite done.
We will go back and fine-tune the Joint Alignment for those two components.

  1. Find the Battery Holder component’s joint feature in the design, Timeline or  Browser.
(The joint icons in the design will be highlighted as you hover over each one)
  2. Right-click on it and select ‘Edit Joint‘.
(If you select the wrong joint, just press Esc and try another)
  3. Look at the placement of the Battery Holder’s slide switch – is it where you want it to be?
If you wish, change the angle by 180 degrees to rotate it around to the other side.
(If the switch is on the front, you need to unselect Component1 and try re-jointing it – use the joint origin on the centre of the non-switch face)
  4. When satisfied, click OK.

  5. Find the Switch component’s joint in the design, Timeline or  Browser.
(The joint icons in the design will be highlighted as you hover over each one)
  6. Right-click on it and select ‘Edit Joint‘.
(If you select the wrong joint, just press Esc and try another)
  7. We need to change this component’s alignment quite a bit, it should be sticking out the back of the Back Cover!
  8. Flip the alignment if the red part of the Switch is not facing backwards.
  9. Change to the Right view by clicking on ‘RIGHT‘ in the View Cube.
  10. Drag the Offset arrow to move the button up and align it with the back of the Battery Holder.
Fine-tune with the number field; 15.5 mm seems about right.
  11. When satisfied, click OK.

Now the user controls are in a final-ish place, let’s make sure we can reach them!
